About the Rotate PDF
Rotate PDF turns pages of a PDF by 90° or 180° and saves the corrected file. Rotate a single sideways page, a selection of pages or the whole document, and see the result in the page previews before you save.
It is the quick fix for scans that came out upside down, landscape tables that appear sideways, or photos of documents taken with the phone held the wrong way.
The rotation is stored in each page’s rotation setting, the same way PDF readers do it, so page content is not re-rendered or re-compressed. Everything runs in your browser; the file is not uploaded.
How to use it
- Click “Choose a PDF file” or drag a PDF onto the box. Previews of all pages appear.
- To rotate one page, use the rotate-left or rotate-right button under its preview.
- To rotate several pages, click their previews to select them (Shift+click selects a span), then use “Rotate left” or “Rotate right” under “Selected pages”.
- To rotate the whole document, use the buttons under “All pages”.
- Check the previews – each changed page shows its new rotation. Use “Reset” to undo all changes.
- Click “Save rotated PDF” and download the file.
Features
- Per-page, selected or all pages: Rotate exactly the pages that need it, in 90° steps to the left or right.
- Live preview: Previews turn as you click, so you can check the orientation of every page before saving.
- Respects existing rotation: If a page was already rotated in the original file, your change is added to that rotation instead of replacing it.
- Keeps the rest of the document: Only the rotation setting of the pages changes, so bookmarks, links, form fields and document properties stay in place.
- Lossless and private: Page content is not re-encoded, and the file never leaves your device.
Examples
One sideways table
Page 7 of a report is a landscape table that appears sideways. Click its rotate-right button, check the preview and save.
Upside-down scan
A whole document was scanned upside down. Click “Rotate right” twice under “All pages” to turn every page by 180°.
Mixed orientations
Pages 2, 5 and 9 of a photographed form are rotated the wrong way. Select those three previews and click “Rotate left” under “Selected pages”.
Limitations and notes
- Password-protected and encrypted PDFs, including files that only restrict editing, cannot be rotated.
- Rotation is limited to 90° steps; pages cannot be straightened by a few degrees.
- Saving rewrites the file, so existing digital signatures become invalid.
- Very large files need a lot of memory and may fail on phones, and previews of complex pages may take a moment to appear.
Frequently asked questions
How do I rotate only one page of a PDF?
Use the rotate buttons under that page’s preview, then click “Save rotated PDF”. All other pages stay as they are.
Is the rotation permanent?
Yes. The saved PDF opens with the new orientation in every PDF reader and prints that way. The original file on your device is not changed – you download a new copy.
Does rotating reduce the quality?
No. The tool changes the rotation setting stored with each page; text and images are not re-rendered or re-compressed.
Why does a page look rotated already before I change it?
Some PDFs store pages with a rotation, for example landscape pages. The preview shows pages the way a PDF reader displays them, and your rotation is added on top.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The previews and the rotated file are produced in your browser; the document stays on your device.
