About the Images to PDF

Images to PDF puts your photos, scans and screenshots into one PDF document, one image per page. Add up to 100 JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF images, arrange them in the right order and choose the page size.

Typical uses are sending photographed receipts or homework as a single file, turning phone scans of a contract into a PDF, or collecting screenshots for a report.

JPG and PNG images are placed into the PDF without re-compression. Other formats are converted by your browser first, because PDF files cannot contain them directly. Everything happens on your device – the images are not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Click “Choose images”, drag images onto the box, or paste an image from the clipboard.
  2. Put the images in order by dragging the handle on the left or with the up and down arrows. The first image becomes page 1.
  3. Choose the page size: “Fit to image” makes every page exactly as large as its image, while A4 and US Letter use standard paper sizes.
  4. For A4 or US Letter, choose the orientation (Auto picks landscape for wide images) and a margin of None, Small or Large.
  5. Click “Create PDF”, wait for the progress bar, then download images.pdf.

Features

  • No quality loss for JPG and PNG: JPEG photos are embedded as they are and PNG images losslessly. WebP, GIF (first frame), BMP and AVIF are converted to PNG when they have transparency and to high-quality JPEG otherwise.
  • Correct photo orientation: Phone photos that are stored sideways with an orientation tag are placed upright, without re-encoding the image.
  • Page size, orientation and margins: Fit each page to its image or use A4 or US Letter with portrait, landscape or automatic orientation and three margin sizes. Images are scaled to fit and centered, never cropped or stretched.
  • Up to 100 images: Add up to 100 images of up to 50 MB each and reorder them by drag and drop, by touch or with buttons.
  • Metadata stays out: Camera details and GPS location stored in photos (EXIF and XMP data) are not copied into the PDF.

Examples

Receipts for an expense report

Add eight photographed receipts, choose A4 with a small margin and Auto orientation, and upload the single PDF to your expense system.

Homework pages

Photograph each page of a handwritten assignment, sort the photos so page 1 is first, choose US Letter and submit one PDF.

Screenshots in original size

Keep “Fit to image” and no margin to turn a series of screenshots into a PDF where every page matches its screenshot exactly.

Limitations and notes

  • HEIC/HEIF photos and SVG graphics are not supported – convert them to JPG or PNG first. AVIF works only in browsers that can display AVIF images.
  • Animated GIF and WebP images are added as a single still frame.
  • Converted formats are limited to about 16 megapixels (the canvas limit on many phones); larger images are scaled down during conversion. JPG and PNG files are not affected by this limit.
  • PNG images are stored losslessly, which can make the PDF large for big screenshots or photos saved as PNG.
  • All images are processed in your device’s memory, so very large batches may fail on phones. Create several smaller PDFs if that happens.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PDF reduce the image quality?

No. JPEG files are embedded unchanged, so the PDF contains exactly the same image data. Only formats that PDF cannot store, such as WebP or AVIF, are re-encoded.

What does “Fit to image” mean?

Each page gets the size of its image, calculated at 96 pixels per inch, with the optional margin around it. Pages can therefore have different sizes. Very large images are limited to 200 × 200 inches, the maximum most PDF readers support.

Why does my phone photo appear upright in the PDF even though it looked sideways elsewhere?

Phones often save photos sideways and add a tag that says how to rotate them. This tool reads that tag and places the photo upright, the way it looks in your photo gallery.

How many images can I convert at once?

Up to 100 images, each up to 50 MB and 500 MB in total. For more, create several PDFs and combine them with Merge PDF.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The images are read and the PDF is built in your browser. Location data in your photos is not copied into the PDF either.
